"Hello Eunjoo, thanks for all your help ;-)"

The hardware system I'm making will
start of as a set of simple yes or no inputs which the LCD will respond to.
Next I want to create an art interpretation mobile application, that you can take to a gallery or an online setting to generate insights into artworks. I'll aim do that this week..

#define LED 13#define BUTTON 7
int val = 0;
void setup(){ Serial.begin(9600); pinMode(LED, OUTPUT); pinMode(BUTTON, INPUT);
}
void loop(){
val = digitalRead(BUTTON);
if(val == HIGH) {
digitalWrite(LED, HIGH); Serial.println("YES"); } else {
digitalWrite(LED, LOW); Serial.println("NO"); }
}

Above, EunJoo describing her room, below, William. The lines represent left and right hand movements.

Above, screenshot from Gestural Spaces, the beginning of a collaboration with Alexandra on motion capture and the Phi Books - now we are capturing gestures as peeople talk about the
spaces where they are creative or where they regularly work. At the moment the outcomes are interesting traces, like drawings and sound files that go with these hand gestures.

Exciting components are arriving everyday, such as this cute little
FT232 Sparkfun USB to Serial breakout board. My friend from Goldsmiths, EunJoo, is helping me to make some electrical experiments, as I'd like to start making hardware devices without actually blowing myself up.
Lee and I have had out paper abstract accepted for the DRHA 2010, Sensual Technologies: collaborative practices of interdisciplinarity Brunel University 5-8th September 2010
This is very good news! Our paper is called Designing and evaluating an embodied and subjectively situated visual art interpretation and navigation system (VAINS) . We just have to write it now
;-)
